During a journey to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Clayton Korver had the unexpected opportunity to acquire this remarkable 19th-century chest. Crafted in Madagascar and originally shipped to the historic trading island of Zanzibar, the piece reflects the rich maritime connections of the Indian Ocean. Clayton recalls, “I was incredibly fortunate to find it. While on my trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, I came across this chest and immediately knew I had to bring it home. I was drawn to and really appreciated its history, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance.” Today, it remains one of the most memorable discoveries from his travels and a testament to the enduring beauty of global craftsmanship.
