Antique Turkish Copper Hammam Bath Box

SKU: 3317

This authentic 19th-century Ottoman-era Turkish hammam box is a finely hand-forged copper vessel originally used in traditional bathhouses to carry soaps, oils, and bathing essentials. Beautifully constructed from heavy-gauge copper, the exterior is richly decorated with a deeply textured repoussé diamond pattern, creating a striking faceted surface that reflects the light with sculptural depth. A traditional tinned finish lends a soft silver-toned sheen while allowing warm copper undertones to emerge on raised details, enhancing its age and character. The domed hinged lid is fitted with an ornate swing handle and secure drop-latch closure, resting above a raised base with small integrated feet. Inside, hand-punched drainage holes reveal its functional bathhouse origins, while visible hammer marks preserve evidence of its artisanal forging. Rich patina, subtle oxidation, and gentle wear complete this evocative and highly collectible piece of Ottoman material culture.
