Antique 19th Century Persian Qajar Hand-Chased Copper Charger Plate

SKU: 3410

Dating to the 19th-century Qajar Dynasty, this remarkable Persian copper charger reflects the period’s fascination with royal imagery, intricate ornament, and elegant calligraphy. The central medallion presents a finely rendered crowned Qajar ruler or court figure accompanied by an attendant, surrounded by scrolling foliage and stylized birds. Flowing Persian and Arabic calligraphy fills the surrounding registers, carefully framed by geometric and foliate borders. Hand-hammered copper provides the foundation, while warm brass-alloy inlay creates a striking contrast against the deeply oxidized surface. The reverse retains the irregular hammer marks and subtle imperfections of traditional hand craftsmanship. Its richly aged patina and remarkable detail offer a wonderful glimpse into the artistry and visual language of Qajar Persia.
